The Struggle for Perspective

It’s been one month,  16 days and 4 hours since my first (and hopefully only) wedding vows…and so far, so good!

And yes, this blog is way overdue.

But it’s a funny thing – much as I love writing these blogs and much as I had the most wonderful, fun, relaxing and special day on Jan the 14th…

I have been climbing proverbial walls trying to write this blog.

So much happens on and before and after a day like a wedding day that it seems a bit overwhelming to try and put it into words.

In fact, talking to my wonderful barefoot husband (such an adaptation, learning to think of myself as having a husband!), he made me feel so much better about my failure to blog.

It’s too early, he said. With things like this – really big things that have so many implications, it often takes much longer to really get perspective on them. You have to let them settle and mellow and slowly come into focus before you can really reflect on them.

And so I’m following the sage advice of said barefoot husband, and breathing deeply and just letting it all come in slowly.

And sometime – sooner or later – you’ll know that the perspective has found me, ’cause the blog will magically appear right here!

And I think this is also a great reminder for the business of brands: sometimes, the best thing you can do for your business or your brand after a big change or a major decision point is just give it some space and time to be, to come back to itself and regain definition. Give change some time to settle – the people and the businesses involved (inside and out) will thank you.

Hope you all have the special gift of someone who helps you keep it all in perspective.

Beautiful blog post Anneleigh! You have a great husband supporting you. And no doubt, your own greatness attracts him and a dual dance into your life. This perspective piece is helpful, gentle and reassuring. Thank-you for posting. Love, Althea
